Syracuse man admits to killing sister’s 16-year-old boyfriend

Syracuse, N.Y. – A Syracuse man admitted Friday to killing his sister’s 16-year-old boyfriend during a fight.
Richard Olschewske, 19, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for causing the death of Shamek Bernard Bonner. In exchange for his guilty plea, Olschewske was promised a sentence of 25 years in prison.
On May 21, 2023, Bonner was at his girlfriend’s home on West Newell Street when he got into an argument with Olschewske, Onondaga County Assistant District Attorney Alphonse Williams has said. The fight turned physical and Olschewske stabbed Bonner, he said.
During the fight, Ebony Bonner, the teen’s mother, got a call from her son’s girlfriend, she told Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard.

She said that she heard two people in the background arguing and heard one man say “you’re going to die.” She then heard her son pleading for his life, she said.
“Don’t stab me,” he said over and over, she said.
Bonner was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he died around an hour after the stabbing, police have said.
Bonner was a sophomore at Corcoran High School. He loved basketball and playing video games with his friends, his family said.
