Synchromatic Model 100 6014
Gloss Sunburst Finish
Archtop Acoustic Guitar
Used - Fair, but Playable Condition
This fine, vintage specimen of guitar history is the Gretsch Synchromatic Model 100. Manufactured from 1939 to 1955 when it was renamed the Corsair, this Model 100 was made in 1949. With its 16-inch wide body, the Model 100 was part of Gretsch's American Orchestra Series and features the stairstep bridge on a carved spruce top along with an arched maple back and maple sides. The original harp tailpiece is missing and has been replaced with a trapeze tailpiece. Other features on this acoustic guitar include a maple neck, rosewood fretboard, and chrome open-gear tuners with black buttons, although one of the tuners has been replaced with non-original open-gear tuner with a white button. Cosmetically this guitar has some obvious issues, the binding around the fretboard is completely missing, the binding around the body and around the pickguard is lifting up in some places, the neck heel has cracks on both sides, and the low E-string is quite buzzy when played open. On the playability side the neck is straight, the action is low, and this guitar sounds fantastic (just watch out for that open Low-E!) and looks like a vintage guitar should look like!
