Description
RARE Vintage 1900s Carl Gottlob Schuster luthier German Parlor Guitar case Lyon.Carl Gottlob Schuster was a luthier in Germany in the late 19th and early 20th century. His violins and other instruments are extremely rare and sought after. I've done as much research as I could and I've only found 1 other guitar. This a complete hand crafted parlor guitar.
36 7/8" long. Lower bout 12 3/8". Upper bout 9 5/8".
Scalloped frets. Frets and fretboard are in great condition. Neck is straight. Beautiful wood binding inlay. Original endpin. Bridge has been reglued and there are two "supports" added on the bottom of the bridge. Don't know exactly their purpose.
The tuners may be from USA (?) - they seem to be the originals and are in full working order. With round, bone buttons and small diameter, steel rollers, the engraved side-plates have the following numbers and letters - D.R.G.M / 76348 / K.K.Oe.P / 47/3427 / U.S.A.P. / 609715. The geared, roller ends have a quick-release mechanism which, when pulled, releases all the tension of the string.
Back is one beautiful piece. Has one crack, that has a cleated repair. You see the cleats in the photos.
Looking at the guitar, the bottom right corner, the front and side has separated. In doing, some of the inlayed binding has been lost. Check photos.
Has original case. It's an end opening case. The "lid" is missing. There is also an hole near the head of the case.
Such a great candidate for restoration. Good luck bidding and ask any questions.
