SUPERB ANTIQUE BRONZE PLAQUE OF A ST BERNARD DOG BY LISTED ARTIST H. HENJES

A superb antique bronze plaque of a Saint Bernard dog in an alpine landscape, signed by listed artist H. Henjes, referred to in the book Animals in Bronze by Christopher Payne. Henjes worked in France and is attributed to the animalier school of artists. This work certainly displays his talent and attention to detail. The bronze has acquired a lovely patina over the years, and displays beautifully atop the black marble base. The bronze plaque measures about 6 1/2" long by 3 1/2" wide, with the black base measuring 7" by 4 1/8". A gorgeous piece for the serious St. Bernard dog collector!
