Vintage 1956 Silvertone 663 Archtop Guitar W / Windchime Headstock By Kay in original case
This is a beautiful guitar, I have tried but have yet to find another anywhere. I can find an occasional reference to
the 663 model but that's it. She's pretty well in a league all her own.
Talked to the guy at Silvertone World and he confirmed they are indeed rare, made only for two yrs.
She plays nice up and down the neck great action, no buzz. neck has been reset and the tone is spot on, not harsh or twangy and not dull or thumpy. Something about this era, good wood etc,, just had a wonderful sound.
Fretboard leveled and crowned action is great at just over 2 mm, see foto.
Comes with a really cool original case.
Also has the original vintage Kluson tuners, they are the "no lines", only made between 53 and 56, a bit collectible themselves. And the pickguard is from the era, not sure if its original
The guitar itself is in great shape, made by Kay and has that feel to it, really nice.
She has dings from the years here and there but no cracks, no loose bracing or binding, she's in great condition..
And of course there is the Windchime headstock, hardly ever see these and it is my favorite bit of character,,,,, Along with the blonde body, Shes a keeper.
