Description

You are bidding on a vintage1930s Columbia acoustic parlor guitar in need of restoration.
I've had this guitar for almost 20 years.
It was found broken and battered at a swap meet in 2001 and a friend brought it to a guy in Santa Barbara to restore it to playable condition. (See Badge inside).
The neck was reset and the floating bridge was converted to a pin bridge and the missing tuners were replaced with Gotohs. It sounded amazing for the years I played it.  Small size and comfortable neck.
Measures 13.25 inches at widest point and 18 inches from the top of shoulders to bottom  36.5 inches from top to bottom.  Body is 3 5/8 inches deep. Neck width is 1.75 inches at nut.
Pretty much the same size as most Stella guitars.
I moved a couple of years ago and when I got this guitar out of storage I noticed it had a couple of new cracks in the top and one on the bridge (see photos).
been downsizing my guitar collection anyway I've made the choice to offer this up to anyone who might want to restore it. I'm sure someone will have fun bringing this back to life.
Top is a nice grade of spruce-- unusual for these models. And the back and sides are birch. You'll see the fake rosewood finish has been worn away in many places. Neck is made of poplar and
Super warm sound for it's size and comfortable neck-- almost a V shape.
From what I understand Columbia guitars were mail order instruments and the predecessors to models like the Stella, Silvertone, and Mitchell parlor guitars of the 50s and 60s. I think they were all made by Harmony.  I've seen a couple models similar to this under the name Supro, but the Columbia is pretty rare.
Not really a collectors item. But it's got tons of vibe in the old wood.  Worth restoring for someone who wants to play it.
The major issues are the cracks which can be repaired by a good Luthier. And I'd recommend the original wooden nut be replaced.
The bridge used to have a bit of thin fretwire in it that is now missing.
The big crack on the side that goes around the other side was repaired in 2002 and still seems strong.
Simple old Cardboard case included.  Not original. Just something to protect it while shipping.
Six black pins for pin bridge included. not pictured.
