Harmony had been making guitars in large quantities, until 1940. Joe Kraus ran the company in 1916 when Sears bought the Chicago Instrument maker. BUT THEN Kraus and NOT SEARs, and Joe bought the company from SEARS (1940 - Handmade Guritars)
In 1940, after Kraus had a conflict with management, he left, but then bought enough stock to restart the company independently. This guitar is from the scarce war era, and at a time when Joe has refocused the company with his core artisans, luthiers, and skilled instrument makers & crafts persons.
After 1945, and up to 1975, the new company manufactured about 10 million guitars. During their peak years, 1964-1965, selling 350,000 instruments, more than enough guitars were made to fuel the explosion of Rock n Roll, and aspiring young artists.
Often played by Band and Jazz artists, Harmony guitars could be found everywhere.
World War II guitar from Harmony, hand made at a time when America was at war against inhumanity and many oversea defending freedom, and those at home supporting their dedication to country.
